Chairpersons Welcome

Welcome to the new season and to a new chair of Kenilworth RFC mini & junior section. 

On behalf of the committee and everyone who is involved in the running of this section I would like to extend a very warm welcome back to all our existing team members, coaches, helpers and parents/carers and also welcome all the new players who have just discovered this wonderful game of rugby!

My eldest son started playing in the Under 7’s back in 1987 and many years later went on to play for Coventry RFC.  I never imagined that 20 years down the line I would be nominated to be Lady Chairman for the mini & Junior section but I am absolutely delighted to take on this important role and build on the success of my predecessor Jez Grew and the committee members who work so tirelessly to make Kenilworth one of the best mini & junior sections in the country.  I have been a ‘touchline parent’ for 20 years and a committee member for the last 4 so I have an understanding of what you, as parents, require from us in terms of the welfare of your children whilst playing rugby and I can assure you that the committee is here to ensure that your child’s well-being is our foremost priority.

This is a very important year for the mini & junior section as we now have squads from U7 through to  U17 for the first time in many years. Many of our junior members have been selected to play for District and County, which is testimony to the high level of coaching they receive at KJRFC.   We also have the Rugby World Cup, which will hopefully mean an influx of new players who are inspired by our national teams performances!  However this means that more committee members and more coaches and helpers are desperately needed to enable us to continue to provide the first class coaching skills that are required to maintain the high standards of our teams.  Please contact any of the committee members or coaches if you feel you can help, we will sponsor any relevant training courses subject to the usual child protection checks.

I sincerely hope this is a very successful season for all our mini & junior teams but most of all I hope that all of our players just enjoy the spirit of this great game.
